About Me
Born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, I began my musical journey amidst a vibrant community of musicians, including Marcus Miller, Omar Hakiim, Bernard Wright, and Lenny White. For over 25 years, I’ve been a dedicated musician and Musical Director for artists such as Kelis, Keith Sweat, Janet Jackson, Lionel Richie, India.Arie, Toni Braxton, Governor, Yolanda Adams, and more.
Transitioning into Funk and Rock & Roll, I embarked on multiple world tours and contributed as a co-writer/producer for Nona Hendryx (of LaBelle) and Little Steven Van Zandt (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band).
My versatility caught the attention of Roger Davies (manager of Sade, P!nk, Janet, Cher, Joe Cocker, and Tina Turner), leading to a collaboration with Rock & Roll legend Joe Cocker. I completed four consecutive world tours and contributed to three live DVDs/CDs with Joe Cocker. Subsequently, I joined Tina Turner and have worked with her for over two decades, including performances on her "Wildest Dreams World Tour," the "Twenty-Four Seven World Tour" (the top-selling tour of 2000), and the recent "Tina, 50th Anniversary World Tour," which sold over 1 million tickets across 90 shows worldwide. My performances with Tina can be seen and heard on multiple DVDs/CDs, including "Tina Live," "Tina Turner: One Last Time Live in Concert," "Tina: All the Best, The Live Collection," and "The Best of Tina Turner – Celebrate!"
Driven by my passion for writing and production, I actively pursued recording projects while touring. I was signed to W&R Group/A&M Records by Grammy Award-winning producer Ric Wake (known for his work with Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, and Whitney Houston) and songwriter/socialite Denise Rich. During this time, I wrote and produced four singles for Billy Porter and Audrey Martells.
Notably, Billy Porter's cover of Glenn Jones' "Show Me," which I produced and mixed, reached number 15 on the R&B Billboard Charts. Porter later won a Tony Award for "Best Actor in A Musical" for his performance in "Kinky Boots," as well as a Grammy Award for "Best Musical Theater Album," and in 2020, he starred in the television show "Pose." To date, Billy Porter has won a Grammy, an Emmy, and three Tony Awards.
I served as the Bassist/Musical Director/Producer for R&B/Soul Artist "Governor," signed to 50 Cent's R&B label "G Note Records." Following a successful tour, I entered the studio with Governor to write and produce for his then, upcoming album.
Additionally, I co-produce, engineer, mix, remixed, and contribute live bass, synth bass, drum programming, and additional production to various projects for fellow producers. I am currently collaborating with Grammy Award-winning producer Mark Batson (Dr. Dre, Eminem, Jay-Z, Alicia Keyes, Anthony Hamilton, India.Arie) and completed work with Mark on Melissa Etheridge's CD, "This Is M.E."
My collaborations extend to Grammy Award-winning Puerto Rican Reggaeton Producer/Songwriter Paul "Echo" Irizarry (Tempo, Daddy Yankee, Don Omar) and Andrew Lane (High School Musical, Hannah Montana, Disney). I have also written and produced songs for Patti LaBelle ("Release Yourself") and Chaka Khan ("Free Yourself").
I joined Smooth Jazz Artist, Euge Groove on his "House of Groove" CD, co-writing/producing the song "It's Only Rain," which garnered significant radio play and CD sales. I previously collaborated with Euge Groove on his "Livin' Large" CD, covering Sly and The Family Stone's "Thank You (Fallettineme Be Mice Elf Agin)." Both CDs reached #1 on the Billboard and iTunes Charts for at least three consecutive weeks.
As the Co-Founder of STREET BEATS Inc., I lead an innovative music licensing company focused on designing, composing, and producing content that captures the full spectrum of the Black music experience through a streamlined process.
I have an extensive background in music production, with experience across various high-profile platforms. For UNIVERSAL PICTURES' "THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY", I handled all aspects of the song "It’s Like Whatever Baby," including writing, production, recording, mixing, and mastering. The sequel achieved significant box office success, along with tremendous DVD sales.
My work has been featured multiple times on The OWN Network, BET, VH1, MTV, CBS Sports, the NFL (both regular season and Super Bowl broadcasts), and CBS Sports NCAA Basketball. Additionally, I mixed and mastered “COLOR,” a film documenting visual artist Alteronce Gumby's exploration of color and its impact on his creative process.
I treat my clients like family and ensure they appreciate my easy-going approach and commitment to high standards. I am excited about the possibility of bringing my diverse musical skills to your projects. I would welcome the chance to discuss how I can help you achieve your goals.
